Biomass Boiler Types

Fuel Types

Biomass boilers are boilers that burn plant matter to generate heat and in some cases electricity. The fuel can vary from Wood Logs, Wood Chips, Wood Pellets, Grain or Miscanthus (Elephant Grass.)Carbon Legacy only design, install and commission Biomass Boilers which use Wood Logs – Wood Chips and Wood Pellets as a source of fuel.

Brand Types

We only install German, Austrian and Danish biomass boilers as quality is an extremely important factor when considering a biomass installation. As these machines are there to serve high demands for prolonged periods of time in very harsh conditions, they need to be built to the highest quality. There are MANY brands of biomass boilers on the available market in the UK, and 90% of them are cheap and easy low-grade quality kit, that will cost more in repairs and servicing than the original cost of the boiler itself. We personally have installed, tested and monitored many brands of boilers over the years and have finally settled on 3 boilers which are the Crème de la Crème of biomass boilers on the market.

Our 3 brands come from countries who know exactly what winter is all about, and therefore have no option but to exert all their time and effort into making a product their markets can handle without failing. We only take stock of the highest quality equipment. If it’s not MCS ACCREDITED, tested and has a proven track record, we will not touch the product. Our entire range of biomass boilers have been chosen for their performance, efficiency’s and overall quality. Biotech and ETA rank in the top 5 best boilers in the world for quality, efficiency and reliability.

Boiler Sizing

Sizing of a biomass boiler is extremely important. Every single factor regarding the property, location, intended use, geographical placement and environment needs to be taken into account. Some installers will try convince you to buy a 100kW boiler when in actual fact your property may only need a 35kW boiler and you will end up spending more on fueling the 100kW beast than you are actually needing. It’s extremely important that your property is assessed, and your installer presents it’s findings with a comprehensive heat-loss model of your building, and an EPC is carried out.
